The Cass County Jail went into temporary lockdown Tuesday morning after suspicious packages were left at the facility.
According to Sheriff Jesse Jahner, around 6:30 a.m. one or more people dropped off two boxes at the jail’s 24-hour entrance, telling staff they should examine what was left behind. A deputy found the boxes suspicious due to wires inside.
Law enforcement established a perimeter around the jail while bomb crews investigated the packages. No explosives were found, and the lockdown was lifted.
The incident remains under investigation.
