By Seth Dunlap Jun 18, 2025 | 5:51 AM

The first confirmed tornado of the year in North Dakota was reported on Tuesday, June 18.

The cyclone appeared southwest of Regent, with pictures taken by onlookers showing a narrow, diagonal cylinder stretching from dark grey clouds towards farmlands.   The funnel cloud’s appearance was brief, and did not cause any significant damage.

High winds and storms have continued to impact North Dakota, with the state seeing wind speeds above 90 miles per hour in the past few days.   Scattered thunderstorms and warm, humid air are forecasted through the week.

Hotter 100 degree temperatures are expected to impact South Dakota  and southwestern Minnesota.
