Emergency Aid Extended to North Dakota, Drought Effected Areas

By Ryan King Jun 20, 2025 | 8:06 AM

Golden Valley County, North Dakota, has been designated a natural disaster area by the USDA due to prolonged drought conditions, making farmers and ranchers eligible for emergency assistance in the area.

This includes low-interest emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency (FSA) to help replace essential equipment or livestock, restructure operations, or refinance existing debt.

Neighboring counties in North Dakota—Billings, McKenzie, and Slope—as well as Montana’s Fallon and Wibaux counties, are also eligible for aid.

The deadline to apply for assistance is February 2, 2026. Producers are encouraged to visit farmers.gov for tools and resources, and to contact their local USDA Service Center for help with applications and eligibility.
