Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem cited the location as a high-traffic area for unauthorized border crossings and narcotics trafficking. The funding comes from 2021 appropriations that were previously suspended under the Biden administration, though no construction timeline has been announced. Fisher previously secured nearly $2 billion in border projects during Trump’s initial presidency.
