The latest USDA Crop Progress report shows a slight decline in U.S. corn condition, with 70% rated good to excellent—down 2 points from the previous week—while soybean condition remains unchanged at 66%.

Despite recent strong winds that damaged some cornfields, widespread rainfall and warm temperatures are expected to support crop development. Corn emergence is nearly complete at 97%, and 4% has reached the silking stage. Soybean planting is 96% complete, with 90% emergence and 8% blooming.

Winter wheat harvest is lagging significantly, at just 19% complete compared to 38% last year. Winter wheat condition dropped to 49% good to excellent. Weather this week is expected to be favorable for crop development due to heat in the 90s and sufficient soil moisture in most areas. However, isolated storms and lingering moisture challenges may impact some regions’ harvest progress.
