Trump Again Intends to Protect Farmers from Immigration Enforcement

By Ryan King Jun 25, 2025 | 7:51 AM

President Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to protect farmers from the consequences of stricter immigration enforcement, even as his administration resumes workplace raids on agricultural operations.

Meanwhile, confusion surrounds the Department of Homeland Security’s recent reversal of guidance that temporarily halted raids on farms, hotels, and restaurants. Uncertainty over enforcement has left both agricultural employers and workers on edge.

The impact of immigration raids—real or rumored—is already being felt in farming communities across the country. Foreign-born workers make up a significant portion of the agricultural workforce—about 38%—highlighting the challenge of balancing immigration policy with the operational needs of American farms.
