The South Dakota Soil Health Coalition will host its West River Soil Health School on June 25–26 in Caputa, SD.
The two-day program offers about 30 participants an intensive, hands-on education in soil health through a combination of morning classroom discussions and afternoon field exercises. Topics will include nutrient management, cover crops, weed and pest control, livestock integration, and soil carbon strategies.
Participants will observe plot trials, learn to conduct soil health tests, and explore practices like grazing cover crops and reducing soil disturbance. A highlight of the event is the evening panel discussion, where experienced soil health producers share real-world lessons and answer participant questions, sparking valuable peer-to-peer learning and conversation.
