A North Dakota native has claimed the Jeopardy! champion title. Klay Frappier, an accountant from McHenry and University of Jamestown graduate, won over $20,000 after leading most of the game and successfully answering Final Jeopardy.

Frappier, who has been auditioning for the show since 2019, began his trivia journey at the Red Hen Taphouse in Fargo-Moorhead, which hosted a watch party to celebrate his victory. He credits his teacher parents for encouraging his lifelong love of learning and question-asking, saying all that seemingly “useless knowledge” finally paid off in trivia.

His family traveled to Los Angeles for the taping, including his eight-months-pregnant sister who made the trip to support him. Frappier will defend his title on Monday’s show, with another watch party planned at Hen House Bar & Restaurant in Moorhead starting at 5 p.m.
