A Barnes County man was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot someone during a domestic dispute in Oriska, North Dakota. William Smith is accused of threatening to “put a bullet” in a woman’s ex-husband’s face during an argument that began when she asked if he was on drugs.
According to court documents, Smith allegedly threw objects at the woman’s car, blocked her vehicle with a garage shelf to prevent her from leaving, and took her keys from the ignition. When the ex-husband arrived and decided to press charges, Smith had already been arrested by Valley City Police on DUI charges.
During a vehicle search, officers found alcohol, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Smith denied making shooting threats, claiming he only threatened to punch the man, and alleged the woman had assaulted him first. He faces multiple charges including terrorizing, felonious restraint, theft, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia charges.
