The first games were played at the new baseball fields at Jamestown’s McElroy Park over the weekend.
The new fields took 15 months to construct, and held up well through the storms the past two weeks. The official opening day for the park will be on August 16, while the Babe Ruth League and other youth amateur teams will play there though the summer before opening day.
There are still new upgrades to be installed, including new signs and further maintenance of new grass.
