A Mexican national, Jorge Reyes-Salazar, previously deported from the U.S., is now in North Dakota custody facing charges of unlawful reentry of a deported alien after a felony conviction. He was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. on June 13 in Williston during a traffic stop for speeding.

An unsealed indictment on Friday revealed Reyes-Salazar’s criminal history, including a 2001 DUI and a 2020 controlled substance conviction in Texas, both of which led to his previous removals from the U.S. He was also ordered removed after a 2005 arrest. Reyes-Salazar is being held without bond following a hearing held on Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Alice Senechal. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison due to his prior felony convictions.
