The National Weather Service is issuing early warnings about violent storms once again impacting North Dakota on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday’s storms should only affect the western parts of the state and much of Montana, with severe thunderstorms and hail possible.

Friday’s storms could be worse.  There is a 70-90% chance of severe thunderstorms for most of central and eastern North Dakota, large damaging hail, and possible tornados on the 4th of July.

Forecasters want people to be highly aware of the danger of these storms on the Independence Day holiday.   Plan multiple ways of receiving emergency alerts in your local area, and those camping or spending the day outdoors should be prepared to make quick decisions sheltering for safety.

The forecasts are of moderate reliability 48 hours out, and there will be a more defined look at Friday’s weather by Thursday morning.
