The National Weather Service in Grand Forks suspects that four tornadoes touched down in the region on Monday. Mindy Beerends, a meteorologist at the NWS in Grand Forks, tells KSJB that there was one brief touch down south of Grand Forks, east of Reynolds, just before 8 p.m. There was damage to a farmstead east of Highway 81, including a grain bin and a barn, along with damage to trees. That storm cell continued east into Minnesota through the eight-o-clock hour, resulting in possibly three more touchdowns in Polk and Norman County. The Norman County Sheriff told the NWS that there was damage to trees and a building was destroyed in rural Ada. Surveyors from the NWS are still working to gather information about the storms.
