Lightning struck a business in Jamestown Wednesday night. Thunderstorms swept into the Jamestown area soon after a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night. Heavy rains and electrical activity resulted in a local business being struck by lightning about an hour later, according to neighbor reports. Shortly after 11 p.m., emergency services were called to Miller Dental, located on 2nd Avenue.

The structure was on fire on the north side, with flames at least 5 feet high, and smoke filled the building. Several firetrucks were on scene, with police blocking off the street to traffic. Firemen were on the scene until around 1 a.m. After the fire was extinguished, it was apparent that the lightning had created a hole in the side of the structure about 6-7 feet high.
