Judge Denies Motion to Access Database in John Deere Case

By Ryan King Jul 15, 2025 | 7:58 AM

A federal judge has denied a motion to compel John Deere to hand over a comprehensive financial database to plaintiffs in ongoing antitrust lawsuits regarding right-to-repair practices.

The plaintiffs—including the FTC, five state attorneys general, and a group of farmers—requested access to Deere’s Dealer Financial Analysis (DFA) dataset, which contains detailed metrics on dealer profitability, parts sales, repair revenue, and more. However, a U.S. District Judge ruled that Deere had already provided sufficient data in discovery, and the DFA data would offer minimal additional value.

The lawsuits originates and accuses John Deere of monopolizing the repair-service market by restricting access to essential tools and software, such as the Service ADVISOR system, to authorized dealers only.
