In an up and down season full of winning and losing, the Minnesota Twins had two bright spots in their season selected into the MLB All Star Game, Center Fielder Byron Buxton and Starting Pitcher Joe Ryan.

Buxton and Ryan each made appearances in the intense drama filled All Star game that ended with the game not going to extra innings but a swing off, which the NL would go on to eventually win 4-3.

Joe Ryan made the first appearance by a Minnesota Twin entering the game in the Top of the 4th inning. Ryan would deal going 1-2-3 striking out 2 batters in the process. Ryan’s night would be over after that to let fellow all stars get their innings in.

Byron Buxton made his appearances later in the game. Popping up to left field in his first at-bat, and then doubling in his second at bat, and scoring a run that aided in the AL’s comeback in the game.

Ryan and Buxton were the loan Twins in the all star game but each did their job and came close to securing another win for the AL.

Ryan, Buxton and the Minnesota Twins will return to action after the all star break this Friday when the team travels to Colorado to take on the lowly Rockies.

The Twins finished off their first half of the season at 47-49 and will look to get into the AL Wild Card Picture as the season hits its turning point.
