North Dakota’s unemployment rate ticked up slightly to 2.7% in June, according to Job Service North Dakota. That’s up from 2.1% in May, though it’s still lower than the national rate of 4.4%.
The state saw unemployment rise by about 2,600 people between May and June, which officials say is typical for this time of year. North Dakota ranked second among all states for the lowest unemployment rate, trailing only South Dakota at 1.8% percent.
Despite the monthly increase, North Dakota’s jobless rate remains well below both the national average and where it stood a year ago at 2.8%.
