There is a high probability of severe thunderstorms continuing throughout southeastern North Dakota today.
The National Weather Service has rated the danger on a 2 out of 5, with winds of up to 70 miles per hour, possible 2-inch hail, and possible isolated tornados. This system is expected to continue impacting the area, including Jamestown, through the overnight, with the most mild parts of the storm this afternoon and early evening.
Residents are cautioned to be prepared to receive emergency alerts multiple ways, and have a plan for sheltering should it become necessary.
Rain and storms are again forecast later in the week, continuing an unusually wet summer for the region. April, May, and June all saw rain averages well above annual averages according to the NWS and more rain is forecast through much of the rest of July.
