Two people died in a three-vehicle crash Friday evening on North Dakota Highway 3, about 10 miles southwest of Hurdsfield.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports Matthew Yunker, 36, of Hensler was driving southbound in the northbound lane around 8 p.m. when his 2008 Pontiac G6 sideswiped a northbound Chevrolet Equinox driven by Derek Jackson, 47, of Harvey. The impact caused the Pontiac to become airborne and collide with a northbound 2010 Dodge Challenger driven by Milton Jeffries, 61, of Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
Both Yunker and Jeffries were ejected and killed. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. Jackson escaped injury and was wearing his seatbelt.
Jeffries’ passenger, Mahlon Jeffries, 62, also from Eagle Butte, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. He was wearing a seatbelt. The Highway Patrol is investigating.
