Fargo Police Link Weekend Homicides to Ongoing Feud

During a Monday press conference, Fargo Police say two fatal shootings that occurred within 30 minutes early Sunday morning are connected and stem from an ongoing feud between groups of individuals.

Nineteen-year-old Azeem Holmes was killed and two others wounded, one critically, in a shooting at 1:56 AM on Broadway North. Just 30 minutes later, 21-year-old Elijah Hughes was shot and killed at Westwood Estates on 16th Avenue South.

Police have identified 20-year-old Tyrq’ue Jones as the suspect in the Broadway shooting and are asking for the public’s help in locating him. Jones is currently on a 1-year period of supervised probation stemming from an alleged terrorizing incident on June 27th, 2024. Court records show that two young women reported Jones had robbed them at gunpoint. Jones should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately.

A second suspect named Kenji Moses was arrested for probation violations later Sunday morning after fleeing the Broadway scene with a weapon, and police are working to identify a suspect in the Westwood Estates homicide.

Chief Dave Zibolski said that prior to Sunday, Fargo had gone eight months without a homicide, calling this a “catastrophic day” but maintaining the city remains extremely safe overall. Police have been running extra patrols downtown since July due to ongoing concerns.

Due to the scale of the incidents, multiple agencies provided mutual aid. Three guns were recovered as evidence, and 6 search warrants were executed, according to the press release. Police expect to release information about additional suspects soon.
