An emergency declaration is in effect in Jamestown through August 29.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich made the declaration last Friday, August 8th.  It allows residents to help with tree and debris removal as long as that removal doesn’t pose risk to individuals or properties.  A similar declaration was made by Mayor Heinrich after the destructive storms on June 20.  The declaration also allows the activation of other services, and coordination with outside agencies, should the need arise.

A copy of the declaration can be viewed by below.

Straight line winds of 100 miles-per-hour affected the southeast and southwest parts of town early Friday morning, causing damage to trees and property.  The National Weather Service is still gathering data, but has not yet confirmed any tornadic activity in or over the city.

Tornado activity was confirmed in Northern Stutsman County around the same time, and four EF-1 tornadoes touched down in Grand Forks County.
