As first reported by most North Dakotans support President Trump’s use of tariffs, but they’re split on whether the trade policies will help them personally, according to the latest North Dakota Poll. Sixty percent support tariffs as trade policy, while 57% approve of Trump’s trade handling.

However, opinions are divided on personal impact – 33% say they’ll be better off financially, 32% worse off, and 35% about the same. Recent federal data shows inflation rising, with wholesale prices up 3.3% in July.

The poll also shows strong support for immigration policies, with 65% backing mass deportations. Most respondents – 64% – don’t believe deportations would harm North Dakota agriculture. Overall, 74% rate the state’s economy as excellent or good, with 72% saying North Dakota is on the right track.
