The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission is expected to recommend no new actions on pesticides in its latest draft report sent to President Donald Trump.
Instead, the commission supports allowing the EPA to continue its current methods of safeguarding pesticides, with references to exposure research, public confidence in the EPA’s review processes, and partnerships with private innovators to improve pesticide application technology.
In the new recommendations, MAHA highlights the importance of precision pesticide use, such as targeted drone applications and computer-assisted spraying, to increase productivity while reducing chemical use. It also suggests reforms to EPA’s approval process for crop protection products, greater flexibility for farms in managing manure and water, and incentives for soil health practices.
