Construction has begun on the new North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown.
North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong spoke during Monday’s ceremony on the construction grounds adjacent to the current hospital. Governor Armstrong called the hospital a way to deliver “high-quality healthcare . . . across the state of North Dakota.”
The project was approved by the state legislature with a $300 million budget. The project’s outline says the facility will house 141 inpatient beds, and include enhanced safety measures, and a design that was built around input from hospital staff.
A sex offender treatment program and psychiatric care will also be housed in the new 300-thousand square-foot campus.
Construction is expected to be completed at the end of 2027.
