The Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ July 2025 Ag Tractor and Combine report shows mixed results in tractor sales, with smaller tractors providing some relief while larger models continue to weigh down the market. Sales of under-40-horsepower tractors slipped 1.7% from last July, while mid-size tractors (40- to 100-horsepower) rose 0.8%. However, total tractor sales fell 4.9% year-over-year, driven by steep declines in larger models.
Combine sales remain especially weak. Only 359 combines were sold in July 2025, a sharp 43.7% decline compared to 638 units sold in July 2024. For the first seven months of the year, combine sales are down 43.4%, with just over 1,800 units sold compared to over 3,300 in the same period of 2024. The data highlights ongoing challenges in the ag equipment market, particularly for larger machinery, as the broader farm economy continues to struggle.
