The nation’s corn crop declined slightly last week, while soybeans held steady, according to the latest USDA’s Crop Progress report.
Corn development is mostly in line with historical averages, with 97% silking and 72% in the dough stage. Nationwide, 71% of corn is rated good to excellent, down 1 point from last week but still ahead of last year’s 67%.
Soybeans are progressing slightly ahead of average, with 95% blooming and 82% setting pods. Crop condition for soybeans was unchanged at 68% good to excellent, matching last year’s rating.
Meanwhile, the winter wheat harvest is nearly finished, reaching 94% complete, just behind average, while the spring wheat harvest jumped to 36% complete, running ahead of last year.
