The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has awarded nearly $1.7 million in Fiscal Year 2025 to Urban Agriculture Grants to 33 projects across the state. These grants, funded through the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Program, support youth agricultural education and community development in cities over 5,000 residents as well as recognized tribal communities.
Recipients included nonprofits, schools, and local governments, with funding available for equipment, infrastructure, staffing, and other resources that strengthen urban agriculture and increase access to locally grown foods.
By investing in capacity-building tools, spaces, and staff, the grants ensure consistent programming throughout the school year and growing season. The program connects residents with fresh produce and also fosters lifelong skills, community pride, and stronger local food systems across Minnesota.
