A 20-year-old North Dakota Army National Guard member has become the first candidate to announce his run for Fargo mayor. Jake Coulter says he’d bring big changes to the city, including raising traffic fines to help balance the budget, streamlining public communications, and expanding homeless shelters. Despite acknowledging his youth and inexperience, Coulter says he would be a dedicated public servant. The mayoral election is set for next June, with no other candidates announcing yet. Current Mayor Tim Mahoney cannot seek re-election due to term limits, leaving the race wide open.
