Police responded to two separate weapon-related incidents near Aberdeen schools Wednesday, unrelated to the Minneapolis shooting. Around noon, officers were called to 3rd Avenue and North Kline Street for a reported weapons offense involving an airsoft rifle that shoots pellets, according to a press release. The suspect was later cited for discharging an air gun within city limits. A second report of someone with a weapon near the Salvation Army prompted a lockdown at nearby Lincoln Elementary, though no suspect was found. Both Roncalli Primary and Lincoln Elementary had police presence through dismissal as a precaution. School officials say no students were ever in danger and safety protocols worked effectively.
