It was heavily rumored that it was going to happen, and now its official.

After departing from the Minnesota Vikings after the conclusion of the 2022 NFL season to pursue greener pastures with the Carolina Panthers, Adam Thielen is making his way back home as the Vikings completed a trade with the Panthers this morning.

The Vikings are dealing with some health and availability issues in the wide receiver room, with Justin Jefferson not 100% with a hamstring, Jordan Addison being suspended the first 3 games, and Jailen Nailor also dealing with a foot injury, the Vikings needed to bring in someone, and what better way to bring in a new body than with a guy who’s been there before.

Thielen spent the first 9 years of his career with the Vikings, where he would haul in 534 receptions, for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns. Thielen would then sign with the Carolina Panthers and has spent the last two seasons trying to develop Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

Details in the trade involve the Vikings sending a 2026 5th round pick, and a 2027 4th round pick in return for Thielen and a conditional 2026 7th round pick, and a 2027 5th round pick.

The Vikings, when in full force, just made new starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s job even easier, surrounding him with another reliable experienced target, can the Vikings get off to a good start in order to get Justin Jefferson healthy and wait out the suspension of Jordan Addison?

The Vikings kick off the NFL Season on September 8th, traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears on Monday Night Football.
