The NTSB reports a B-52 bomber nearly collided with not only the commercial Delta flight, but another aircraft shortly after. This incident occurred over Minot last month after the B-52 completed a State Fair flyover. The bomber first came dangerously close to Delta Flight 3788 with 80 passengers, forcing the pilot to make an aggressive maneuver. Less than a minute later, the same B-52 nearly hit a small private Piper aircraft. Investigators say confusing commands from air traffic control contributed to the July 19th incident. The Delta pilot told passengers he was caught off-guard by the B-52, and was confused by the lack of warning from controllers. All three planes landed safely, but the incident is a cause for aviation safety concerns.
