The Labor Day weekend is expected to set a record for travelers through North Dakota this year.

AAA expects lower fuel costs will results in a 9% rise in travelers on state roads compared with last year.  Airfare has stayed relatively flat year-over-year with a less-than 1% increase according to the NTSB.   The Labor Day weekend is traditionally the last high-volume travel weekend until the Thanksgiving holiday.

A study by the National Household Travel Survey shows that the average Labor Day road trip is between 50-250 miles away, with 80% of holiday travelers driving that distance.

The TSA also expects over 17 million people to travel through American airports around Labor Day this year.  The TSA also says that domestic flight prices are actually down 5% compared to last year, but international travel is up over 20%, causing the slight inflationary overall prices.
