A replacement has been named to represent North Dakota’s southeastern legislative district.
District 25 that encompasses Wahpeton and Richland has been without a state representative since May after Republican Cindy Shrieber-Beck died while serving. The party’s committee in that district has selected Kathy Skroch to complete the two year term.
Skroch is from Lidgerwood and was a former state representative from 2017-2022. She also is a business owner in the town.
Skroch reportedly won out over other finalists that included Jason Heitkamp and Erik Nygren.
She lost a re-election campaign in 2022 during her time representing the old District 26. She said in a statement that she plans to run for re-election in 2026.
