In a statement released Friday, Governor Kelly Armstrong is mourning the death of former state Senator Larry Robinson of Valley City, who passed away Wednesday. Robinson served in the North Dakota Legislature for over three decades, from 1989 to 2020. Armstrong, who served alongside Robinson in the Senate, called him “a true statesman” and praised his fierce advocacy for higher education, particularly Valley City State University. Robinson spent nearly half a century in various roles at VCSU, including director of student activities, foundation director, and executive director for university advancement. He also served as president of the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce and on the Governor’s Alcohol and Drug Prevention Task Force.
