Fargo Police End Hours-Long Barricade Standoff, Armed Suspect in Custody

A barricade situation in Fargo has been resolved with a suspect in custody as of 2:40 this afternoon. Fargo police responded to a disturbance around 10:30 AM at a residence in the 700 block of 2nd Street North, where a man known to the occupants entered the home and began causing damage. The individual was armed with a hammer and pocketknife and barricaded himself inside after residents requested his removal. The Red River Valley SWAT team was called to assist in the hours-long standoff. Police had asked the public to avoid the area during the incident, but that advisory has now been lifted with the suspect safely detained.
