Week 3 is here, and buckle up everybody! It’s going to be a great night of high school football, and a great night for high school football coverage during the Prep Sports Roundup. (Ahem… 7-10 every Friday on Live Local and Legendary KSJB) Lets take a look at some of the biggest games in the state!
Class AAA
#1 Fargo Davies @ #2 Bismarck Legacy
- Both teams have found their spot in the rankings with different ways. Fargo Davies inherited the stop spot after former #1 West Fargo-Sheyenne lost in Week 1, while Bismarck Legacy has earned their way to the second spot, by defeating then #1 West Fargo-Sheyenne, and Bismarck Century. Will the #1 team stay in their spot, or will Bismarck Legacy have another upset over the top team in the state and take their place?
Class AA
#4 Grand Forks Red River @ #1 Minot North
- Minot North has cruised along so far in the season, with easy wins over AAA Williston, and Fargo South, but now a good test will decide whether Minot North should be in the top spot, or if newcomer Kindred should be. Grand Forks Red River comes into the matchup as the former #1 in last year’s AA, and is used to having the target on their back, now with the target pointed away from them, will Grand Forks be able to knock Minot North down a peg?
Class A
Bottineau @ #4 Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose
Velva got knocked off a peg in week 1 as the #1 team losing to Harvey/Wells County in Week 1, and go back on track last week against Stanley. But this week, Velva will get another team hungry to beat them, Bottineau enters this week getting votes in the latest Class A poll, and will look to use that momentum to spring into the Top 5 with a win over Velva. Can Velva hold off another hungry team? Or will the Aggies continue their dominance and prove Week 1 was just first week jitters?

A THREE WAY TIE
#4 North Border @ #1 New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock
#3 Linton-HMB @ #5 Grant County/Flasher
#2 Lamoure-LM @ South Border
- How did you expect to pick just 1? Look at those games! The Top 5 teams in the Class all we be in some huge matchups in Week 3, that could potentially shake up the rankings heading into the week. #4 North Border will hit the road to #1 New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock, #3 Linton-HMB takes on #5 Grant County/Flasher. And one I’m extra interested in, #2 Lamoure-LM heads on the road to South Border who just this week FINALLY received votes after dominating opponents in the first couple weeks of the season. I have had my eye on South Border, and tonight’s matchup result could be a good indication if I’m right. If South Border can knock off the Loboes, a spot in the Top 5 will be for sure, if they lose by a slim margin, I still believe South Border should be considered one of the best teams in the state. Big night in 9-man tonight!
