North Dakota has officially broken its annual tornado record. Following multiple tornadoes that swept through central North Dakota yesterday, September 14th, the state has now recorded at least 62 confirmed tornadoes this year, surpassing the previous record of 61 set back in 1999. The National Weather Service in Bismarck reports that more than five additional tornadoes occurred on Sunday alone, with the exact count still being finalized. This is a huge weather milestone, as official tornado records in North Dakota date back to 1950. Stay weather aware, North Dakota.
