The National Weather Service confirmed multiple tornado touchdowns in North and South Dakota on Sunday.
The NWS says they received at least 20 reports of confirmed tornadoes in the central part of North Dakota, including in Emmons, Burleigh, Sheridan, McLean, and McHenry Counties.
The NWS has confirmed at least four separate touch-down tornadoes at this point.
The first was reported in Mobridge, South Dakota early Sunday afternoon. There was severe localized damage but nobody was injured, according to local tornadoes.
The second confirmed tornado touched down at 4:15 p.m., approximately two miles west-southwest of Bowman. This tornado caused minor damage according to local officials. No injuries were reported.
A third confirmed tornado touched down at 5:20 p.m. in Golden Valley County, about 30 miles north of Rhame. This tornado reportedly knocked down small trees on a ranch. Again, no injuries were reported.
Another tornado briefly touched down at 6:05 p.m. approximately 10 miles north of Hettinger in Adams County, according to the National Weather Service. No injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service continues to gather data from yesterday’s storms to give a more clear picture of what happened and the amount and severity of tornadoes across the region.
