The Stutsman County Commission unanimously approved a response letter opposing Kidder County’s rejection of a major water management project Tuesday, September 17th. The $24.5 million plan would pump excess water from Crystal Springs and Stink Lakes through an 83,000 ft. buried pipeline to prevent flooding in western Stutsman County, as first reported by the Jamestown Sun. Kidder County officials say they don’t want the water piped into their area, but Stutsman County argues the project includes mitigation measures to limit negative impacts and would provide benefits at no cost to Kidder County residents. The commission also approved a $10,000 annual permit for new operators of Spiritwood Resort, with the fee waived for the first three years.
