Industry leaders say natural gas will be the “savior” of the nation’s power grid as artificial intelligence demand drives massive electricity needs – equivalent to building another California by 2028. North Dakota, producing over 3.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily, is positioned to benefit from this boom. Basin Electric has received ten formal requests for large power loads totaling 5,000 megawatts – nearly double their current generation capacity. Meanwhile, Chevron officially enters the Bakken oil field October first through its acquisition of Hess Corporation, with plans to double oil recovery from unconventional assets. The company says it’s already identified opportunities for improvement in North Dakota operations.
