Jamestown Police Report Fewer Traffic Citations, Arrests in August, but DUIs Increase

The Jamestown Police Department’s monthly reports show a decrease in both traffic citations and calls for service from July to August, according to graphs posted recently by JPD. Traffic stops dropped from 254 in July to 239 in August, while overall traffic citations fell from 305 to 299. Adult arrests decreased from 75 in July to 57 in August. The most common calls in both months were traffic stops, aided cases, and animal calls. Speeding citations dropped from 68 to 47, while traffic warnings increased from 129 to 190. DUIs increased in August with a total of six as compared to three in July. Other notable increases in August included 27 more sex offender registration checks, and eight more suspicious person calls.
