A man accused of creating illegal images with artificial intelligence is due back in court next week.
Court officials say 49-year-old Mitchell Kohler of Valley City is set for a plea-change hearing Monday morning in Barnes County District Court.
Prosecutors allege he used AI software to generate child sexual-abuse material by manipulating photos of minors pulled from social media.
The investigation began after Apple reported suspicious files tied to his online account. Deputies later searched his home and recovered hundreds of digital images, according to charging documents.
Kohler faces multiple felony counts of possessing and producing child sexual-abuse material.
A jury trial remains on the docket for October 21, pending the outcome of Monday’s hearing.
