The final week of the 9-man regular season is here, and next week the playoffs will begin, leading to some eventual clashes of the Titans in the impressive 9-man classification. Before we get to the clashes. Lets go over the Week 8 poll, and see a slight change as we head into the final week.
The 9-Man Poll goes as shown:
- New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock (-)
- Lamoure-LM (-)
- Linton-HMB (-)
- Alexander (-)
- Hankinson (+1)
Also receiving votes in the poll was Divide County, and North Border.
Alexander would survive the #4 vs. #5 matchup against Divide County last week, dropping Divide County out of the poll, and inserting Hankinson the final week of the season. Hankinson has been a team to gain some steam in the closing weeks, and is looking to head into the playoffs in a good spot.
The Top 5 has some favorable matchups heading into the final week. But one matchup really sticks out to me, there was a team all season long that has been good, but was in the shadow of teams in the region with New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock and North Border. Four Winds who is a QUIET 6-2 on the season will travel to New Rockford tonight. Its a tall order to contain the defending champs, but Four Winds seems like a sneaky team that could jump on New Rockford if they aren’t ready for them. New Rockford has had moments of getting going in games, so if Four Winds can whether any first quarter storm from the Rockets, Four Winds could be an unexpected team to knock off the #1 Rockets heading into the playoffs.
The most fun classification, filled with good teams and talent, will finish off the week before we get to those eventual clashes. Where will each team land?
