Some games were played on Thursday this week, and some games will be on Friday. We will make this weeks selections short and sweet and give you the best games that are on FRIDAY, and some will play a factor as we get closer and closer to the playoffs when it comes to seeding and being at home or hitting the road.
Here’s some games that I’m looking forward to in Week 8 (Friday)
Class AAA
#2 West Fargo-Horace @ #1 Fargo Davies
- Here we go again! The Number one spot will be up for grabs heading into the final week of the AAA season. Fargo Davies defended their top spot last week against an unranked team, but struggled for a portion of the game. How will they handle the #2 team coming in, who has held the Top Spot in the state before as well, and looking to get that home field advantage in the playoffs? Will the “Curse” of #1 in AAA reign supreme? We will find out tonight.
Class AA
#4 Grand Forks Central @ Central Cass
- I thought Central Cass was a little unfairly booted out of the Top 5, and they haven’t been able to get back in since losing to Grand Forks Red River. But they have a chance to get a statement win against a team who ran in to Kindred last week in Grand Forks Central. The loser of this game is more than likely going to be hitting the road for the playoffs, while the winner will host. Central Cass has had some close games this season and will have a good test tonight against the Knights. Can the Knights bounce back after rolling all season long in the #3 spot but running into the Vikings and dropping down to #4?
Class A
Ray/Powers Lake @ Bottineau
- Two teams that were under the radar all season long, and it could come down to some playoff seeding. Bottineau is trying to keep up their momentum as they are just outside of the Top 5 trying to get a home playoff game, but Ray/Powers Lake seems to me, to be a team that could play spoiler if a team doesn’t come to play on a Friday night. Will Bottineau keep up its momentum or will Ray/Powers Lake play spoiler and maybe give another 2 loss team a chance to shoot up in the rankings and get a home playoff game?
9-Man
Lewis and Clark @ Divide County
- Lewis and Clark is another team to add to the teams that are under the radar in 9-man due to the crowdedness and dominance of the upper tier of the Classification, Divide County was in that crowdedness but was booted out by Alexander the #4 team last week. With a win, and a Hankinson loss, Divide County could get back into the conversation, but will need to worry about Lewis and Clark first. Lewis and Clark could improve their ranking and playoff seeding if they can manage to get a win. A good storyline heading into the final week of the 9-man season.
