High winds are creating dangerous driving conditions across southeast North Dakota today, especially for large vehicles.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck says a Wind Advisory is in effect this morning, with northwest winds around 35 miles an hour and gusts reaching 55 across Jamestown, Stutsman County, and the I-94 corridor. High-profile vehicles such as semis and delivery vans are at risk of being pushed off course, and drivers are urged to use caution.
Winds will begin to ease and skies should gradually clear later today, though breezy conditions may hang on through the evening.
Then comes a sharp cool-down. Forecasters say overnight lows will drop near 29 degrees, likely bringing the first hard freeze of the season for Jamestown and surrounding areas. After that, milder weather returns midweek, with highs back into the 50s and mostly sunny skies through Thursday, staying above seasonal averages.
