We head into the playoffs with these teams in the highest spots in the state. Which of these will be upset in the first round? Which of these teams will cruise to an appearance in the Dakotabowl? We will find out this Saturday when the Class A and 9-man playoffs begin.
Round 1 of the Class A and 9-Man Playoffs will kickoff this weekend and there’s a couple matchups I’m looking forward to.
Class A:
Grafton @ Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm
- Grafton was quiet through a good chunk of the season and they will have their hands full when it comes to this weekend matchup against EEK and their high octane rushing attack.
Ray/Powers Lake @ Killdeer
- Killdeer, technically finished the season IN North Dakota undefeated, but during the season, have shown signs of struggle trying to handle their opponents from week to week. Can Ray/Powers Lake sneak up on the Cowboys and get a round 1 upset?
9 Man:
South Border @ North Border
- The Battle of the Borders! South Border will make the long trip up North to take on North Border. North Border flirted with the Top 5 during the early part of the season, and South Border almost made it to the top 5 but both teams had a similar way of being where they are now in the rankings, running into the titans of 9-man. Which season will continue for a hopeful meetup with those titans?
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood @ Kidder County
- MLS was a team we didn’t talk about enough during the regular season, but they enter the playoffs with a 7-2 record. Kidder County was a team we started talking about more and more through the season. Both teams have some momentum and motivation heading into the 9-man playoffs, who will come out on top?
