Nickeus Park in Jamestown is currently under construction for a playground tailored to children of all abilities. The $1.6 million inclusive playground project at Nickeus Park is nearing completion but won’t reopen until spring 2026 to allow finishing work on restrooms and a new pedestrian bridge. Parks Director Amy Walters tells the Jamestown Sun the all-abilities playground with capacity for 260 children features 71 play elements accessible to those with disabilities. The renovations include four restrooms with adult and child comfort stations, accessible van parking, paved sidewalks, and ramped play equipment allowing wheelchair access, according to the Jamestown Sun. Only $46,000 remains to be raised for the project, which also includes a shelter at Dave Smette Plaza and upgraded programming space.
