The National Weather Service is highlighting snow-shoveling safety as Winter Weather Awareness Week continues.

Day 3 of the campaign focuses on staying healthy during winter storms.

Forecasters remind residents that shoveling heavy, wet snow can cause back injuries and even heart strain.

They advise dressing warmly, taking frequent breaks, and moving only small amounts of snow with each pass.

Hydration is also key, even in cold weather, to avoid fatigue while clearing driveways and sidewalks.
