The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is now accepting research proposals for projects focused on improving honeybee health and management. Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said the department aims to fund practical, science-based studies that address the most pressing issues facing beekeepers. Priority research areas include nutrition, genetics, and breeding, all key factors in maintaining healthy bee colonies critical to crop pollination and food production.
The Department plans to award multiple grants, funding either full or partial projects, including those that build on existing research. The program’s goal is to strengthen understanding of bee biology and disease prevention through collaboration and innovation that benefit producers directly, with proposals due by December 1, 2025, at 4 p.m. CT.
