The body of 20-year-old Danica “Tynee” White was recovered from water Thursday afternoon, ending a five-day search by local, state and federal agencies.
White, a Spirit Lake Tribe member, was reported missing Sunday after last being seen near Fort Totten early Saturday morning, November 1st. A feather alert was issued by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Her body was discovered and recovered just before 3 p.m. Thursday. Spirit Lake Chairwoman Lonna Jackson-Street expressed condolences and asked the community to respect the family’s privacy during their grief.
A funeral fund has been established at Gate City Bank in Devils Lake for donations.
